The reformulated amyloid cascade hypothesis by Hardy and Selkoe [2] to include oligomeric species. This hypothesis suggests a sequence of pathological events leading to Alzheimer's disease. It further includes caspase 3 as a potential link between amyloid beta peptide (Aβ) and tau [129].
